Immersive production

I am deeply interested in exploring immersive elements and breaking any walls between performer / host / server and audience. Whatever details I can add to an event or experience to bring it closer to the person choosing to take part in what I’m crafting, I try to take. The events listed below are selected works from my immersive producing background. The immersion techniques used throughout can be directly interactive or individual-led expressions. Either way, the idea of allowing an individual to connect to the work is at play.

Off the table

ongoing: since june 2020 with split-rail

Off the Table is a collaboration between myself and Chef Zoe Schor of Split-Rail. Born out of quarantine in 2020, we developed Off the Table as an interactive and intentionally designed culinary experience. I serve as the designer and host for this ongoing series. Our immersive elements have included home-based activities designed for one or a pair, custom designed dinner classes with environmental elements to connect them to class, and always a direct Q&A connection to the Chef during our class. To see our current class, click HERE. My work is reflected in the following ways:

+ Series concept & visual design
+ Guest-facing interaction and prep
+ Immersive element designer
+ Live Event host

stay on the line

2017 - 2019 at boombox & the martin

Stay on the Line was a one-audience member experience that happened over the Halloween season in 2017 - 2019 and was halted due to COVID-19. Stay on the Line was a completely collaborative project between myself, Nicole Faust and Emily Sharp. Together we concepted the show, wrote and produced three short plays each, performed individually and together and provided technical support for each other throughout the performances. Audience members had solo fully-interactive experiences and experienced back-to-back ten minute immersive productions. We celebrated three years of sold out performances.

open spaces

August 2019 at the martin

Open Spaces: an Art Dinner for Aliens was a collaboration between myself, Lora Nicole and Emory Hall. Emory came to us with the idea of creating a dinner around the experience of feeling alone in a crowded room. We designed an immersive communal dining experience for 22 guests, complete with mixed community dining, activity stations, a video installation, props and more. While a completely collaborative project, here are my contributions:

+ Event concept design
+ Space design
+ Event execution / service
+ PR / Marketing
