63 Days

My moment of warmth in the last week was that I bought a rocking chair and assembled it and I have wanted a rocking chair for such a long time and I think because I’m not a mother I wasn’t letting myself get one like I didn’t deserve it or something and I didn’t even realize how long I’d wanted it until I was assembling it and I started crying and I was like what is happening to me? But it was really emotional and every morning I’ve been starting my day in my rocking chair and its lovely and I am so glad I finally got it and can enjoy it now. So, that’s been my moment of warmth this week.

What brought me joy is, we were able to go to Sanibel Beach yesterday with our friends. Because we do live in Florida- we were able to enjoy the beautiful weather sitting under the shelter looking at the boats in the water and just to enjoy good friends that we haven’t seen in a couple years- that was just joyful to me, period. I know its hard for some people who are in the throws of the middle of winter but I just wanted to say what was joyful to me and it was a very pleasureable day.

Hi, my name is Rochelle and I live in Canada. And what has brought me joy in the last 63 hours is I am playing around with different materials in my art practice and giving up on trying to sell art and just focusing on discovering art and so I’m trying to work with vinyl heat transfer, I think that’s what it’s called. And yesterday, last night, we went out for dinner for the first time since the pandemic and it was amazing to be in a room with other people eating dinner just seeing other people who you don’t know- and it’s not in a grocery store- was such an amazing experience. And after being vaccinated we didn’t feel worried or scared, it was a very pleasant experience. So, I recommend, I don’t know, get out there and just do what you enjoy doing and I’ve decided to stop worrying, stop worrying about things because it doesn’t lead to any happiness on my part. And that is it. And in Canada it is warm, it’s really warm it doesn’t even feel like winter, so that probably makes the mood a bit better here. What else is new? Well, we’ve been doing a lot of different activities in our house with our kids, we’ve been playing a lot of board games and with family drawing time too which has been really nice. Putting screens down and just focusing on socializing with each other in our household and trying to make sure we’re always having face-to-face conversation so that we don’t forget how to socialize because I feel like that might be a problem in the future. That is it. This is a great art project, I love it. Thank you, bye.
